Penfold Motorsports Gets New Number

(12-4-97) Ray Penfold, Team manager of Penfold Motorsports has confirmed that the team
has obtained permission from NASCAR to use the number 0 on their Busch North
Series racecars.
"I'm very glad that NASCAR granted permission for us to use it on the BNS cars!",
Penfold stated.
Ray Penfold was quite successful as a Pro Stock driver, having driven on most Maine
race tracks before they were even paved. He is the 1985 Track Champion at Wiscasset Raceway.
Big Doings In Naugatuck Glass Company
(12-4-97)Dick Anderson, a former supervisor at Naugatuck Glass Company, has been
promoted to Machine Repair & Development Engineer at the cosmetic glass company.
Anderson has been there for 13 years in the maintenance supervisor capacity, and now,
with the changes that have evolved since the company's purchase by Erie Scientific, they
have realized the potential of R & D in the scheme of the corporate structure.
"Naugatuck Glass has become a world leader in cosmetic mirrors.", Anderson stated
briefly, "And I hope to help develop new products and machines to take it into the 21st
century. We have the potential to become even better at what we do.".
Anderson was refering to the glass mirrors that his company makes for the cosmetic
industry, as well as optical glass and special projects.
1998 NASCAR Busch North Series Schedule Revisions
{11-25-97}- Bunk Sampson, NASCAR Busch North Series Director, has
returned home from his sojourn to Japan with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series,
and is already hard at work, completing the 1998 Schedule for the upcoming
race season. So as not to confuse any teams or fans, the tentative schedule
has been removed until the formalities are completed. The official schedule
will then be posted, possibly within two weeks or so, according to Sampson.

ITS A BOY!
{11-12-97}- In an event, equal to no other, Matthew Eric Simpson,
newborn son of George and Nan Simpson, arrived at 2:15 PM November 12, 1997
at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland VT.
Weighing in a 7 lbs. 6 oz., and measuring 18.75 inches long, the baby was
given his first bottle by dad, Geo. "Welcome to the Great Adventure", Simpson
told his son!

Drugg and Pease Operations Combine Forces for 1998
Herb Drugg, driver of the #90 Chevrolet will combine his team with that of
Tom and Peggy Pease's #60 Ocean Spray Team for the next NASCAR Busch North
Series race season. Announced this week, the combination of the two operations
will hopefully advance the four-car stable in the overall run for good race
finishes.

Stefanik Wins General Mills-Ukrops 150
Mike Stefanik of Coventry, R.I., won his 10th NASCAR Featherlite Modified
Tour race of the year Saturday, edging Tony Hirschman by 0.22 second in the
season-ending General Mills-Ukrops 150.
Stefanik, who clinched the series title two weeks ago at Thompson, Conn.,
led 98 of the 150 laps, including the final 38 on the Richmond International
Raceway. He averaged 66.910 mph in his Chevrolet.
Busch North Series To Race At Dover Downs
Dover Downs Entertainment, Inc. announced that the NASCAR Busch North Series,
Grand National Division, will make its first appearance at Dover Downs
International Speedway in a 200-mile race on Saturday, July 18, 1998.

Barrington, NH's Firefighting Hero
In the midst of fighting the points battle in the PRO Truck Series, James
Brown wore a different hat on Sunday, Oct 12th. Brown, a Lieutenant in the
Lee Volunteer Fire Department was paged in the middle of the night to answer
a call regarding power outages in his area.
